Melissa with a capital 'Mmmmmmm'
Desire and Triton Blue Brazil's fashion sandal line Melissa is famous for their comfy and cute jelly shoes. Recent collaborations have included high profile designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Alexandre Herchcovitch. These shoes are made of pliable, hypoallergenice rubber in great colors, and even better, they're made of recycled factory materials and can be recycled themselves when you're finished with them!
But in latest news with Melissa, fashion and architecture take cues from one another, but now shoe company Melissa is combining the two together with Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid's shoe line for the Brazilian brand.
Although some reviewers in London are not impressed . Under the headline "The shoes that say don't quit your day job" they write, "they are what happen when you ask an architect to design a pair of shoes."
Hadid's currently working on the London Aquatic Center for the London summer Olympics 4 years from now. And from the look of the shoes to the shape of her swimming center, I think Hadid has a touch of the Olympic fever.
Well in my doc’s opinion I have come down with a Melissa fever.

Wang & His Apple
As a Native Californian, Wang was born and raised in San Francisco and has a Chinese-American family heritage. At the age of 18, he moved to New York City where he attended Parsons Design School and partook in a variety of internships including Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam and Vogue. By his sophomore year, Wang was already designing the first collection of his label Alexander Wang. Now at 24, Wang has no regrets leaving school early as he launches his first Resort Collection to rave reviews.
Alexander Wang recently created a small limited edition collection for Japanese retailer Uniqlo. The collection consists of light weight fabrics that look silken in their movement and to the touch. I approve of his greys, blacks, and creams that work both in the summer and in the colder months. Appropriate for Perth’s weather gathered by the past few weeks of 2 degrees mornings. If you can’t make it to the store in the big apple you may have to settle for eBay and a long wait of arrival but all is worth it and every cent.

The Rise and Fall of Plastic
"I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic." When Andy Warhol hailed the world's most ever-present synthetic material, he envisioned a world charging toward a vacantly beautiful future filled with silicon breasts, small talk at cocktail parties, and vapid personalities. He never could've foreseen that such a seemingly perfect, useful product could destroy the atmosphere, suffocate children, and annihilate fashion's sense of right and wrong. Plastic, as we know it, is almost single-handedly ruining the world. And fashion's just the latest victim.

All My American Apparel
While Melbourne has already seen the launch of it's first freestanding American Apparel store, Sydneysiders have been panting in desperation for their turn.
There have been countless stories of reasons to not buy American Apparel: the perverted owner leading to countless lawsuits, subjective ads blah blah blah. Regardless of the rhetoric I am completely addicted.
Somehow I’ve acquired heather gray cut shirt and produces along with headbands, dresses, one pieces, leggings and I want the one piece sex kitten bathing suit; every store is out of my size, I’m on a serious search.
There are so many reasons I’m addicted:
1. Everything in there is comfortable except maybe some of those skin tight metallic pieces.
2. Everything is affordable. For $17 you have your shopping fill and can utilize whatever you buy is so many ways.
3. Both men and women can wear it. You can share with your brothers, boyfriend, and cousins. Good place to shop with the opposite gender. If the guy is small and gay you are in even better shape, great shopping advice and you can really share.
4. Almost everything is simple but yet fashionable. You can always play it safe with whatever you buy.
5. If you love anything in there you are in luck, it comes in every colour!
For all things cheap and humane this is your one stop shop.

Lee Cooper
England’s most ironic denim label is about to launch in Australia. To celebrate its 100th birthday, Lee Cooper – previously associated with everyone from The Libertines to Serge Gainsbourg and designer Jean Charles De Castelbajac – will be coming to Oz.
They will also be the first denim sponsor of the Olympic games.

Sassy SASQUATCH
Its quiet rare that anything other than high end menswear labels really impresses. However I have recently discovered Sasquatch Fabrix.
A little label based in Japan.
According to Sasquatch “This season’s theme is ‘Illegal Player’. Based on school taste clothing, in an original point of view, a collection just like the same feeling, as young people admire ‘illegal’ things”.
I am not entirely sure what all that means but I do have quiet a few favourites from th Illegal Player collection.
Including a terry towelling hoodie that resembles a bath robe, the sailorman parker and the cropped chinos.
No stockists in Oz as of yet but I be sure to keep you posted.

Marc Delivers
Has anyone noticed how good marc jacobs is at the moment? I think it's quiet a pleasing effort.
Somewhat flawless in my opinion. I will certainly be getting my hands on a few of the dresses.
Most of his outfits either had a loose, blouson-style top with a very narrow bottom , one long gray flannel dress had such a tight hemline that only very small steps could be made,
or they had a slim menswear shirt with slouchy bottoms, many with a dropped crotch.
Bit of ying yang match of out of proportion size and style wise.I can not possibly question Mr. Jacobs's talent.Looks as if he's settling in for a long run.

For anyone trapped in their childhood, this range finally lets you express your true self while still being an somewhat of an adult.
With a few pieces in my own wardrobe I found this label a blessing for summer festivals, with more oversized tee’s than M.I.A’s wardrobe.
But most of all the best part is the platinum doc martins!

Leather & Lace
Stolen Girlfriends Club
The underground label has taken a fast rise to fame. Stolen Girlfriends Club is a label that really does know how to do REAL rock n roll, as shown by their strong leathers and studs.
Their latest range consists of a grungy mix of tight jeans, leather patches, studding, fringing and plastic detailing that paid homage to the 80’s, 90’s and even a vision of the future all in a single season.
The waistcoat also proved to be a big hit in this range and will undoubtedly be snapped up by the cool kids. With the addition of lace, transforming an otherwise hardcore collection turned it into something a little more feminine. This touch worked perfectly.
PVC pants and tuxedo tailoring, and fabulous fringe covered dresses added a touch of country western..
My favourite piece of the range were the plastic mackintoshes with studded hoods. They were so outstanding that I can't help but cross my fingers for rain.

By early September 2008 the cultural fashion label will be hitting it up nationally, and also in New Zealand.

Well Well...
Although it is a small city compared to the large variety I have experienced in my life so far it also can have alot to offer..I'm talking fashion wise.A large group today have discovered the wonders of what it's hidden and not so hidden, vintage and second hand stores have to offer,and not to meantion what they can create.I do admit I am a sucker for picking up a Russh magazine every now and then and I tend to browse the Vogue forums when in desperate need of a hand with outfits for upcoming events or just to find that piece they I have been searching high and low for to add to that perfect wardrobe I hope to one day have.It's getting there.....
